Chocolate Zen is a European style bakery where you can pick up delectable cakes, pies, tarts and cookies. Their croissants are to die for, and their breads are amazing too. This is one of those places whereyou go in looking to buy one thing, then come out with bags full of goodies. They also offer a number of gluten free options too.
If you’re looking for more than a humble slice of pie, and instead are looking to eat the whole thing (or need help celebrating a special occasion when staying in Winnipeg) then you cannot go wrong at Baked Expectations. There you’ll find tortes, cheesecakes topped with all manner of yumminess (such as their Apple Bavarian Cheesecake is a thing of beauty and wonder), pies, and a range of seasonal specialties such as Tia Maria cake or chocolate dipped strawberries.
Winnipeg has a surprising number of really good ice-cream places, many of which have been around for decades like the Bridge Drive-In, where you’ll find divine flurries and soft-serve options. Be ready to face a line-up to get your ice-cream, but it will be so worth it once you take a taste!
